Hey there, I'm Tim! I'm a mid-20s engineer from the United States currently just trying to figure out my place in the world. I recently came across the web revival movement, and decided to try my hand at making a retro-style website to add to the growing indie web space. I'm interested in all things technology, particularly in computer hardware design, and I hope to eventually use this website as a place to post about in-progress projects as a sort of way to motivate myself to actually create things instead of just doomscrolling all the time (I am very bad about this).

I guess for a little history about me: I'm a bit younger than those who remember the internet before social media, but I've always been interested in how the internet was back in the late 90s-early 2000s. I never got to experience it since I was born after 2000 and didn't really start surfing the web until around 2010, when the tech corpos started taking over. I had learned a little bit of HTML as part of one of my undergrad courses, and always had the idea to make my own website in the back of my head, but I didn't really have much of a drive to do so until recently.

Why make a website now? Well to put it bluntly: I kinda feel like I haven't done much with my life. Granted, this is probably just self-doubt and anxiety talking, but I find that I have so many ideas of random little tech projects to create, and I certainly have the knowledge and skills to do so (what with that degree and all), but I instead just find myself scrolling and wasting days at a time. So I want to take this as an opportunity to try to pry myself out of this cycle, and it's sort of two-fold: in one regard, I'm giving myself something to do other than giving those damn tech companies all of my attention, and in the other, I'm motivating myself to actually chase some project ideas so I have something to add to this website :)

In addition, I'll probably post about my interests/hobbies, and add some random things from around the web that catch my interest in the same way may others across the indie web do. So feel free to check back here for any updates or new links to other cool websites. I'm currently finishing up a master's degree, so I don't know how much time I'll be able to put into this project, but I'll try to at least be somewhat consistent. And if anyone's actually visiting and taking the time to read all this, welcome, and thanks for dropping by! :>
